In its January 1983 issue, Car and Driver chose the Accord to be on their first-ever 10Best Cars list. In their article, they called the Accord, "a remarkable automobile from a remarkable automobile company."* In their January 2009 issue, Car and Driver said, "it's clear; 27 years later, that praise still applies."† They call the Accord a "mainstream pacesetter...[with] crisp responses and exacting path accuracy that have always made Accords so satisfying to drive."† Twenty-three 10Best awards in 27 years-only the amazing Accord.

By definition, a benchmark is the example by which all others should be judged. In the eyes of the editors at Motor Trend, that honor now firmly belongs to the Accord. Put head to head against Toyota Camry, the Accord showed that it simply offered more: "the Accord reigns as the best of the best-the benchmark." *

The article's headline just about says it all: "Test Drive: The Sweet New Accord Does Honda Proud." In his glowing review, USA Today automotive editor James R. Healey sings Accord's praises. He notes its larger interior, its refined powertrain and an "uncommon attention to detail." He notes that "...if you accept that the marketplace is the final judge of an automaker's wisdom, you have had to concede over the years that Honda is among the gifted-and-talented group. The latest Accord feels so good to drive and generally is so nicely furnished that Honda's standing is in no jeopardy." †

The keen-eyed experts at AutoWeek found little to criticize when introduced to the all-new Accord. In fact, their reaction was quite the opposite. After a thorough inspection and test drive, they found that "everything about the new model is larger or better, whether you're looking at overall size and interior volume, power output and fuel economy or the list of standard features." The attention to detail that went into the building of the Accord got a special nod, as one reviewer noted: "Every fit appears as if some tiny carpet installer got in there with his knee kickers and stretched the material taut around every bend and tight into each corner." **

Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass produced hybrid, the Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California's low emission vehicle standards, well in advance of regulatory requirements. Acknowledgement of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda's topping the rankings as the country's greenest automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)-for the fourth time in a row.*
