What Are Dashboard Warning Lights and Symbols?

It can be nerve-wracking when a warning light or indicator appears on the dashboard of your Honda – unless you know what it means. With more than 25 – 30 dashboard warning lights and indicators, it can be confusing at times. Dashboard warning lights and indicators can indicate that a system is in operation or a dangerous condition that could lead to failure and color is a premier indicator. Warning lights that are red, amber, yellow or orange point to a system that may lead to a dangerous situation – such as the Check Engine Light. Indicator lights that are green, blue or gray point to a system that is in operation – such as the High Beam Indicator Light. Here are a few important examples.

Engine Malfunction Light

The Honda Engine Malfunction Light appears when a malfunction is detected with the emissions control system and will blink when an engine cylinder misfires. When the Engine Malfunction Light comes on, it is important to schedule a service appointment with the Earnhardt Honda Service Department. When the light blinks, it is recommended that you stop your Honda for 10 minutes and get to a local service department ASAP.
