Once part of the desert, Glendale grew as a temperance town in the late 1890s. It continued to develop with the addition of the Beet Sugar Factory as it brought in immigrants and various migrant workers until it closed in 1913. Since then, it has come to be known as Arizona’s Antique Capital, keeping the past sacred and safe. Numerous properties have been listed in the Glendale Arizona Historical Society or the National Register of Historic Places.
