2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Review
The 2024 Honda Accord and 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid are really one and the same. The hybrid Accord is part of the same lineup.
If there’s anything that automotive journalists agree on, it’s that the Accord lineup is a good one. They use complements like roomy, comfortable, highly efficient, easy to drive, and affordable.
Still, how does it measure up to what you want in a car? This Accord review seeks to answer that question and more.
The Whole Package
Part of the most modern Accord generation, the 2024 models benefit from structural enhancements, a wider track, and a re-tuned four-wheel independent suspension. This helps the Accord achieve its excellent handling.
The new look is mature and elegant with a more planted stance. Clever design elements include a fastback profile, special slim headlights, straight-line tail lights, and a stretched hood. It lost weight with the use of aluminum for the hood, and it improves aerodynamics with its active shutters.
Car and Driver gives the 2024 Accord a 10 out of 10. They call it the best of the bunch and the whole package.
How Big is the Honda Accord Cabin?
At 105.7 cubic feet of passenger space, the 2024 Accord and Accord Hybrid have a big cabin. It’s larger than the Sonata with 104.4 cubes or the Toyota Camry with 99 cubes.
In fact, Accords have a maximum of 40.4 inches of second row legroom. That’s about two inches more than the Camry Hybrid and about 5.5 inches more than the Sonata Hybrid. From this, it’s easy to see that the best one for adults is the Accord midsize sedan.
A power driver’s chair is standard starting with the Accord EX. This chair has 10-way power adjustments and 2-way power-lumbar support. EX-L Hybrid trim levels add two-position memory. Plus there’s a power adjustable chair for the front passenger.
Then there’s the matter of the trunk. This space measures 16.7 cubic feet in the Accord. Sonata Hybrids lag behind with 16 cubes, and Toyota Camry Hybrids lag behind with 15.1 cubes and
LX trim levels have a folding second-row seatback and a self-opening trunk lid. EX and higher trims have a 60/40 split seatback.
What are the Accord Turbo Trim Levels?
The Accord LX and EX have a 1.5-L turbo engine. A cold-active catalyst has been added to make this turbocharged four-cylinder even smarter. Drivers command 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.
Starting buyers off right with plenty of dash technology, the LX cockpit has a 7-inch color touchscreen angled slightly toward the driver. This is complemented by a 10.2-inch customizable driver’s screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Standards include speed-sensitive sound, SMS text messaging, and HondaLink. You can charge your smart devices with three USB-C ports. Some 10 driver assistance features are standard.
EX cockpits have dual-zone climate controls and a driver’s power chair. Both front positions have a power-heat function, and a moonroof is overhead for natural light and air. It adds even more driver assistance features.
These models are quieter thanks to noise reduction measures. This ranges from the high-rigidity crankshaft to the revised continuously variable automatic transmission.
What are the 2024 Accord Hybrid Trim Levels
Wearing a distinctive black upholstery, Accord Hybrid Sport trims have sporty extras like the aluminum pedals and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Dash tech adds Alexa Built-in and the 12.3-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless.
Stepping up to leather upholstery, the EX-L has a more richly furnished cabin. Standards include a moonroof, power-adjustable passenger chair, and memory-enabled driver’s chair. The Honda Accord Sport-L Hybrid has fun exterior extras like a gloss black decklid spoiler and a rear diffuser.
The Accord Hybrid Touring goes completely upscale. The infotainment system has Google Built-in, making it easy to access Google Maps, Google Play, and the Google Assistant. Other dash tech elements include a Bose 12-speaker system, a wireless charger, and HD Radio.
What’s the Difference in Fuel Economy Between Accord Hybrid and Turbo?
The turbo has above-average fuel economy, and it can save up to $1,500 compared to a normal sedan over five years. Hybrids save $4,000 or $4,500 over five years compared to regular vehicles. These is according to fueleconomy.gov, made available by the US Office of Energy EFficiency and Renewable Energy.
For the LX and EX turbo models, idle stop reduces fuel consumption at red lights. Fuel economy is 32 mpg combined. That’s an EPA estimated 29 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.
Sport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid earn an EPA-estimated 46/41/44 mpg in city/highway/combined driving. Slotted after the Sport, the EX-L Hybrid earns an EPA-estimated 51/44/48 in city/highway/combined driving. .
Note: Fuel Economy is based on 2024 EPA ratings. Use for comparison pictures only. Your mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions, battery pack age/condition (hybrid trims) and other factors.
How Much Power Does the Accord Hybrid Have??
The electric hybrid system generates 181 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Hybrid engines alone produce 146 horses and 134 lb-ft. Final combined power is rated at 204 horsepower. All told, the Accord Hybrid is definitely speedier than the standard Hybrid this model year.
Two electric motors are mounted side by side, providing more room for a larger propulsion motor. Linear Shift Control makes the hybrid automatic transmission feel more normal to the driver. A motion management system helps with ride quality and handling.
These models have the same driver assistance as the LX and EX, if not more features. Since they can be so quiet when in electric mode, they have the acoustic vehicle alerting system.
Safety
Safety is emphasized with the Accord’s new airbags and its next-generation airbags. Crash avoidance is standard with a more effective forward collision system. This benefits from a more refined radar system and from front cameras with a wider angle of vision.
This system can trigger an emergency autobrake function. Street sign recognition, a driver attention monitor, automatic high beams, and traffic jam assist are on board to make collision scenarios less likely.
Lane departure warnings, road departure mitigation and lane keeping assist try to keep the Accord in the safest path. Accord EX and all four hybrid trims have the blind spot monitor and its accompanying cross traffic monitor.
A new low-speed braking control function and parking sensors are standard on the Accord Hybrid Touring model.
