2025 Honda Civic Review -- Civic Sedan and Hatchback Now Come in a Hybrid
The 2025 Honda Civic lineup is better than ever. Available as a sedan or hatchback, new hybrid Civics are sure to please the driver and provide a logical and affordable alternative to higher priced EVs.
Here’s what you should know about the lineup, trim levels, and standard features.
Exterior Colors and Trim Levels
With plenty of new features above and new assets under the hood, the 2025 Honda Civic is a smart car. Its stylish new stance is enhanced by a more aggressive front end. Tailored for the new model year, darker tail lamps dress up the rear.
New exterior colors add a rainbow of choices. Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl are offered on both body styles. Blue Lagoon Pearl is a sedan exclusive while Sand Dune Pearl is a hatchback exclusive exterior color.
Compared to Civic LX sedans, Hatchback and Sedan Sport trims are set apart by black 18-inch wheels and black accent elements.
The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trim levels are offered in either sedan or hatchback body styles. At the curb, you’ll notice a front lower spoiler and a body-colored headlight garnish.
Civic Hybrid Performance
Nothing makes a driver happy like excellent power and amazing fuel economy. 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid drivers will command an estimated 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque1.
Both numbers represent the combined output of the gas engine and two large electric motors. This Honda-exclusive hybrid system really brings together the best of the gas engine and the best of the electric powertrain. Yet it is far more affordable for new car shoppers than electric vehicles.
Furthermore, the hybrid powertrain is more powerful than the 2024 Civic Si. In fact, it’s the most powerful Civic ever -- excluding the High Performance Type R.
Convenient, this electric system doesn’t need to be plugged in. Yet it is targeting as much as 50 mpg2 (combined). That represents big savings for your daily commutes and long distance trips.

Standard Performance and Fuel Efficiency
If you need to cut costs at purchase, Honda offers its 2-liter, 4-cylinder powertrain on the LX sedan, Sport sedan, and Sport hatchback. This fuel efficient engine helps keep costs down while providing ample power for the drive.
Drivers command 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. Yet the powertrain earns a remarkable 41 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg in the city. That’s a combined rate of 36 mpg3. That represents a gain of 1 mpg in every category! Plus the engine has an idle stop to reduce fuel waste at redlights.
Almost as thrifty, the Honda Sport trim level earns 31/39/34 mpg3 in city/hway/combined gas mileage. That's an increase of 1 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway!
So, whether you choose the regular engine or the hybrid, this spacious car's remarkable efficiency is a game-changer for those driving gas guzzlers. You can compare expenses using the fuel calculator, a service of the EPA and US Department of Energy.

Hybrid Drivability and Ride Quality
Drivers will appreciate the hybrid’s Linear Shift Control. This Honda design feels like a conventional transmission. To help drivers with regenerative braking, selector paddles provide four levels of control.
To target efficiency or fun, the driver can choose Econ and Sport drive modes. These alter steering assistance and power output. Even the gauge cluster changes to reflect your choice. If you want an Individual mode, that’s a new standard on the Sport Touring Hybrid.
Simultaneously improving handling and ride quality, the springs and dampers are specially tuned. Active noise control makes hybrid ride quality even quieter than the regular Civics. All hybrids wear a specially designed tire, and Sport Touring models add wheel resonators.
Interior Spaciousness and Design
Maintaining spaciousness and a clean look, designers have updated the Civic interior. Important upgrades include front USB-C ports, a touchscreen, and advanced connectivity. There’s a new gray interior color scheme available on the hybrids.
Sport Hybrid models pile on standard features, including a moonroof for our mild winters and dual zone climate controls for our hottest summers. Heated front seats are also on board.
The Hybrid Sport Touring trim has leather upholstery to provide an elegant look and a softer touch. Music sounds amazing with 12 Bose speakers, and life is easier with a wireless smartphone charger.
Dash Tech and Google Built-In
A standard touchscreen is part of a modern cockpit. Every aspect has been designed for ease of use. Stepping up to a bigger 9-inch touchscreen, Honda improves connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When you choose the Sport Touring Hybrid, Google Built-In comes along for the ride. A complimentary 3-year plan allows you to utilize Google Assistant, making voice commands easier than ever before.
Drivers can talk to Google Maps to get all the benefits of on-screen navigation. Google Play lets you download your third-party audio apps, giving you access to music and podcasts.
How advanced is your current ride? If you are thinking about trading, this Kelley Blue Book tool provides an instant cash offer with no strings attached.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Civics always emphasize safety above all else. Exclusive to Honda, Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ has created a protective body structure. Airbags blanket both rows, and an improved airbag design aims to better protect the driver and front passenger.
Every sedan and hatchback has extensive Honda Sensing standard features, including pedestrian detection. To reduce the chances of a forward collision, a warning may trigger the Collision Mitigation Braking System. To prevent common side collisions, every Civic has a lane departure warning, a lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation.
Taking care of a long commute, the driver can utilize standard Adaptive Cruise Control. Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid trim levels also have a blind spot system. This includes a rear cross traffic alert to assist with slow maneuvers.
