2025 Honda Pilot Review

All Pilots come with premium materials and refined style. Trim levels include the Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, and Elite. Taking its place at the top of the ladder, the Pilot Black Edition is an exciting new addition.

This new model looks different from every angle. A Glass Black Grille bar and blackout fascia ducts give the front end a more aggressive look. 

Along the sides, there’s black window trim, black-accented mirror housings, black door garnishes, and exciting Gloss Black 20-inch alloy wheels. Even the rear takes on a new look with its rear bumper garnish and Black Edition tailgate badging. 

Pilot Black Editions have a dressy interior that adds to athletic styling. Racy red accents dress the perforated leather seating. Red contrast stitching adds more style to the seats, doors, and steering wheel. 

At night, red accent lighting brings a glow to the doors, center console and dashboard.  Special logos add a dash of black to the front seats and floor mats.

For the new model year, the TrailSport has more standards to resist trail damage.  Steel skid plates protect vital components. All-terrain tires wear rugged 18-inch wheels.  

These tires manage to do double duty. They add traction when the Pilot encounters rocky terrain, mud, dirt or sand. Yet they maintain the quiet, comfortable ride quality associated with all Pilot models. 

The 2025 TrailSport all-wheel drive has been strengthened by exclusive rugged hardware.  It has even more ground clearance than a regular AWD Pilot thanks to its raised suspension. This off-road tuned structure gives it more strength when tackling the trail.

A sporty orange adds contrast to the doors, seats and steering wheel. Adding another dash of color contrast, the TrailSport logo dresses up the front seat head rests.  Rubber floor mats declare this SUV’s rugged capability with their own molded logo accent.

The new generation Pilot has the smartest seating ever.  The front seats help prevent fatigure. Second row seats can recline for comfort, slide forward to give more room to the back row, or slide backward to claim more legroom for the second row. 

Even without the second row as far back as it can go, passengers have plenty of space. Likewise, the third row dimensions are generous enough for adults.

One of our favorite features is the removable 2nd row seat. This class-exclusive available feature fits neatly in the cargo hold so it can be ready at a moment’s notice. Built lightweight it is easy to move and install.

A new 9-speed transmission harnesses the Pilot’s 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.  More competitive, this 3 row SUV is definitely more fun to drive. Yet it has typical Honda fuel efficiency.

All wheel drive is offered on Sport, EX-L and Touring trims. This Honda-specific system is standard on the Elite and Black Edition. A more advanced all-wheel drive adds off-road capability to the TrailSport. A Sand Mode makes it especially appropriate for Arizona desert trails.

The cargo area now measures a generous 22.4 cubic feet. This makes it one of the bigger holds in a 3 row SUV. A covered compartment is big enough to be used for the stowable middle seat. If you need more space, folded seats allow you to claim 113.7 cubes of space. 

Honda Sensing is a suite of standard technologies that can keep your Pilot out of harm’s way.  This new generation Pilot has some of the most dynamic systems ever. The front camera system can see more widely while the front radar stretches in a wider arc. 

That’s more coverage to refine how the driver assistance responds to threats. Driver assistance includes the trio of pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking. It also makes adaptive cruise control a better system.

Other aspects include the road departure mitigation system and lane departure warning.  Lane keeping assistance helps the Pilot stay safe within the marked lines.

New generation safety measures include better brakes for faster stop times. It also includes next-generation airbags for greater effectiveness in an accident.

There are a number of post-production packages that add to the Pilot’s personality and capability. The HPD package adds aggressive wheels in black or bronze.  These HPD specific alloys wear special center caps to add to their distinctive look.

Other HPD extras include special graphics and lower door trim. This racy package is available for all Pilot trims.
