4 Reasons to Choose the Honda Prologue vs Chevrolet Blazer EV vs Cadillac Lyriq

As the brand’s big electric vehicle, but the Prologue claimed a victory right out of the gate. In their 2024 Honda Prologue First Review, US News and World Report gave it a huge compliment.

“If the 2024 Prologue is any indication,” they write, “the brand has a bright EV future.” They named off the reasons why: comfy ride, good technology, ample space and nearly 300 miles of electric range.

Meanwhile, critical reviews ask if the package justifies the 2024 Blazer EV price. Cars.com calls it sky-high pricing. Gear Patrol agrees, writing that the Chevy EV is pricey. The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq gets better reviews, but it is also much more expensive over all.

Blazer EV Price vs Prologue Price

While Chevy has announced a less expensive model, they haven’t released it. For that reason, the new Honda Prologue price starts out about $5,000 less than the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV.

Motor Trend notes its higher starting price compared to its class. At its more than $56,000 price point, additional soft points would be appreciated, write the critics. Meanwhile the 2024 Cadillac Lyric starts out about $10,000 more than the entry level Prologue, and that’s before the Lyric picks up luxury amenities.

Honda’s very competitive price doesn’t ask you to skimp on driving range or amenities. It’s an actual bargain compared to these rivals, and that’s a good reason to put it first on your list.

    Driving Range Considerations

A major way that the Prologue pulls out ahead of Chevy is by offering a better value on power and capability. Honda assigns the large battery to every Prologue, regardless of expense. This means front-wheel drive buyers will enjoy a 296-mile range, and AWD buyers will enjoy a 281-mile range. The only exception is the 2024 Prologue Elite which has a 273-mile range.

Meanwhile Chevy is offering three battery sizes, which will cause some buyers to take a lower electric range. Equipped with a small battery pack, the Chevrolet Blazer EV has a 247-mile driving range. This lags the Prologue by 26, 34, or 49 miles, depending on which electric Honda a shopper chooses. For Phoenix drivers, electric range is essential to handling regional drives across long stretches of desert wilderness.

To improve the Chevrolet EV driving range, you will have to pay more for the 2LT. It has 293 miles of range, lagging only 3 miles behind the Prologue at this point.

On the other hand, you can opt for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq to secure a slightly higher driving range, but you’ll pay $10,000 for a small increase. Plus the Lyriq’s fuel efficiency drops compared to the Prologue. When you add it up, the Honda EV represents lower ownership costs overall.

    Entertainment Technologies

When it comes to dash technology, the Prologue has everything the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has. This includes a driver instrument screen and a large infotainment screen. They both have built-in Google features and an in-dash navigation system.

However, Honda includes wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. These two systems are not available on the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. That’s just weird in this era of automotive connectivity. Other Honda standards include automatic dual-zone climate controls and a wireless phone charger.

Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer EV models have had major problems with their touchscreens, leading to at least one pause in sales to address the issue at Chevrolet.

    Driver Considerations

Of course, what good is an EV if it doesn’t drive well?! After all, drivers spend a lot of time in their cars on their long daily commute, their busy errands, and their vacation travel. Fortunately, the Prologue has already proved itself as an EV that’s worth driving.

Motor Trend writes that it sweeps around curves. The smart regenerative braking learns your driver preference and is ready when you get back in the Prologue. It has one-pedal driving for bumper-to-bumper commutes.

Good ride quality and good handling go hand in hand in this case. Prologue passengers are cocooned as the driver enjoys sharper responses to commands. Motor Trend calls the quieted cabin a “quantum leap” and notes that people can hold quiet conversations even at 80 mph. Meanwhile, the 2024 Blazer EV gets points off for a noisy ride quality.

The biggest thing for EV shoppers is the uneven capability of the Chevy Blazer EV trim levels. You could easily buy an underpowered ride without the driving range you need. Meanwhile there’s no such danger when you shop the Honda lineup.

Conclusion

With so much in its favor, the 2024 Honda Prologue should be first on every EV shopper’s list. Get behind the wheel with help from your Earnhardt Honda dealer serving Phoenix metro drivers. Schedule a test drive.
