Remote Start Capability of the 2019 Honda Pilot

On those hot days in Arizona, you may find yourself thinking: man, I wish I could just get into a refreshingly cool car instead of having to endure this searing hot oven of a vehicle that’s been under the beating sun all day. Is there any way that could possibly be done?

Well, hypothetical Arizona man, we’ve got good news for you: that sort of comfort is possible these days, thanks to a little feature called remote start. Does the 2019 Honda Pilot have remote start?

  1. Press the lock button on the key fob remote.
  2. Within five seconds, press and hold the “Remote Start” button. This button looks like an arrow moving in a circle.
  3. Wait a few seconds as the engine starts. Turn signals will flash six times to show the engine has started.
  4. The engine will now run for ten minutes before shutting itself off.*
  5. Once the engine has been started, the climate control system will seek to establish a temperature of 72 degrees in the cabin, whether this uses AC or heating/defrosting. Front seat heaters (if so equipped) will come on in low mode, but the indicator will not illuminate
  6. When you’re ready, simply get in the vehicle (with key fob in possession) and start the engine as normal (pressing the button to start while holding down the brake) in order to start driving.

*This time-span can be extended by repeating the remote start procedure during that initial ten-minute period.
